The cottages were once inhabited by the gardeners who planted and tended the grounds of Arden House. The cottages form a row, their backs along one side of a large Victorian walled garden. At the end of the row there's a door and guests are welcome to walk in the garden and use it for quiet recreation. The walls are magnificent, and the MacLeods have re-planted borders, shrubs and climbing roses in keeping with the Victorian originals. |
In the far corner of the garden is a door through to a large leisure putting green and BBQ area (with gas BBQ). Lavender-edged gravel paths and formal lawns with old woodland, and hills beyond. |
|
Stone gate pillars, mosses and lichen and specimen trees. Adjacent to the garden is also a natural wooded glen by the Ross Burn, and there is a woodland path leading down to the shores of Loch Lomond. |
